Toddler Fest, which in its 11th year has become a spring favorite for young families, drew 131 toddlers and pre-schoolers, and nearly as many adults, to the Greene County Community Center Saturday.
Toddler Fest is hosted by librarians and staff from all six Greene County libraries, with special funding from the Greene County board of supervisors.
Librarians unofficially counted 52 volunteers who helped with activities ranging from tractor races to grocery shopping.
Special guests included magician Rick Eugene and Clifford the Big Red Dog.
As in past years, the Jefferson Rotary Club provided a free book for every child and Rotarians read aloud. Pictured is Rotarian Chris Durlam.
With a tagline “Bee a Reader,” Toddler Fest provides early literacy activities for toddlers while experts in other areas of child development have information for parents.
The Greene County Librarians Association thanked the county supervisors, Iowa Public Television, Partnerships 4 Families, Paton-Churdan pre-school, the Greene County sheriff’s office, the Jefferson fire department, the Hardin Clover 4-H Club, H.O.P.E.S. (Healthy Opportunities for Parents to Experience Success), Greene County Extension & Outreach, Tri-County Lumber, and all the volunteers who helped.
